I didn't really know what to call this section. Buildings sounds quite boring and disguises the fact that some of the photographs portray the most wonderful structures that have been created by man. Some, of course, are more mundane, but all convey the artistry that goes into architecture.
A visit to the Loire Valley in 2012 provided the images of the magnificent châteaux that adorn that region, testament to the great wealth of the monarchy and associated aristocracy. They survived the Revolution, although were largely sacked of their contents. To me this makes the exteriors of these buildings far more interesting than the interiors, although the Château de Montpoupon bucks the general trend by being fully furnished, including the stables that convey its hunting past.
Living as we do close to Peterborough, mention must be made of its magnificent cathedral. Largely overlooked compared with other famous cathedrals of the land, it is well worth a visit.
